Interesting Facts about South Korea

Although Korean cosmetics are used by women all over the world, few people have managed to visit this country. South Korea is full of interesting facts. Let’s talk about at least some of them.

Korean cosmetics

Korean women are beautiful, and it’s no wonder. They are often almost obsessed with their appearance and spend up to a third of their income on cosmetics. They focus mainly on skincare. It has to be perfect, smooth and snow-white. There must be no visible signs of ageing.

Korean women use cosmetic products made from exotic herbs grown on the Korean peninsula and various natural substances. Last but not least, they protect their skin from the sun. Do you want healthy and perfect skin? Try Korean cosmetics; these can include, for example, serums with snail slime or sheet masks.

Interestingly, Korean men also take care of their appearance. They look after their skin, use make-up (up to 20% of Korean men use make-up regularly). However, it is necessary for the make-up to look natural.

Other interesting facts

·        Koreans count age differently from us. Newborn children are one year old. On New Year’s Day, another year is automatically added to their age. (So if your child is born in December, they will already be two years old on the first of January.)

·        Koreans like to wear colourful sportswear. The more colourful and bright, the better.

·        Korean women have similar figures. In shops, you will therefore mostly find only one universal size. Only trousers and skirts are sold in sizes S, M and L. Shoes are sold in shops only up to size 38; you won’t find larger.

·        Recently, Korean women have been rebelling. Korean culture places emphasis on marriage and having children, but the women’s “bi-hon” movement refuses for a woman to be only a wife, a mother and cheap labour.

·        Young Koreans are also rebelling. They refuse to work 69 hours a week, as their government wants. (At present, Koreans’ working week is 52 hours.)
