Contact lenses and make-up. How to do it?

Don’t want to keep wearing only glasses, but you’re worried about contact lenses? Are you afraid you won’t be able to put them in or apply make-up properly with them? Here are a few tips that will definitely make your everyday make-up routine with contact lenses easier.

Proper hygiene and putting in contact lenses

Before you start handling contact lenses in any way, wash your hands thoroughly with soap, rinse them with water and dry them. Then you can put in your contact lenses. How? Take the lens out of the saline solution, place it on the back of your hand, dry your index finger and move the lens onto it. Put the lens into your eye. Close your eye, blink slowly and you’re done. You can start applying make-up.

Eye make-up and contact lenses

You can apply make-up as usual; you don’t need any special cosmetics. However, make sure your cosmetics aren’t old or past their expiry date. Also follow a few rules:

1. Always put your lenses in first, and only then start applying make-up.

2. Don’t use any cosmetics on the inner edges of your eyelids, so the lens doesn’t get contaminated. If you use eyeliner, always apply it only to the outer edge of the eyelid.

3. When removing eye make-up, do it the other way round. First take the contact lenses out of your eyes (so any remaining make-up doesn’t dirty the lenses) and only then remove your make-up.

More tips for contact lens wearers

Instead of loose powders and eyeshadows, it’s better to use liquid powders and cream eyeshadows.

Be careful that your mascara doesn’t flake. Waterproof mascaras might suit you. Try them.

If you’re used to using hairspray or other spray cosmetics, use them before you put your lenses in. If that isn’t possible, always close your eyes before using the spray.
